Editorial Policy

Last updated: 21 April 2026
This page documents the standards and processes that govern every piece of content published on JoeFortune VIP AU. It exists because readers deserve to know how our reviews are produced, who checks them, and what prevents commercial interests from influencing what we say. We hold ourselves to these standards not because we are required to, but because we believe editorial integrity is the only thing that makes a casino review site actually useful.

Core Editorial Principles

Accuracy: Every factual claim in our reviews must be verifiable and recently verified. Bonus amounts, wagering requirements, payout times, payment methods, and licence numbers are checked against primary sources — the casino's own Terms and Conditions, their cashier section (for payment methods), the licensing authority's public register (for licence status), and our own real-money test results (for timing data). We do not publish figures from casino press materials without independent verification.

Independence: Editorial scores, conclusions, and recommendations are made without input from casino operators, affiliate networks, or commercial partners. The existence of an affiliate relationship with a casino is irrelevant to the score that casino receives. Daniel Hartley, our sole author and editor, is the only person who determines what is written in our reviews and what score is assigned. No external party has veto or approval rights over any published content.

Transparency: We identify our author by name, publish the date of original publication and the date of every material update, and disclose our commercial arrangements openly in our Affiliate Disclosure. We do not publish anonymous content. We do not delete negative content under commercial pressure — if anything is corrected, the correction is noted inline rather than removed silently.

Currency: Casino review information has a shorter shelf life than most editorial content. Bonus amounts change monthly. Payout times change with banking relationships. Games are added and removed. Our reviews are therefore not static documents — they are maintained on a rolling schedule.

How Content Is Created

1

Casino Assessment and Selection

Before committing time and testing budget to a review, we assess whether a casino meets our minimum threshold for inclusion. Automatic disqualifiers include: no valid operating licence, confirmed history of non-payment, and operating in a jurisdiction that explicitly prohibits service to Australian players. A casino that passes this screen may be reviewed; one that does not will only appear on our site as a warning or blacklist entry — never as a recommendation.

2

Real-Money Testing

Daniel Hartley conducts all primary testing personally using his own funds. He registers as a standard new player (no pre-arranged reviewer accounts, no inflated starting balances), deposits via the payment methods being reviewed, plays across at least five different games in at least three categories, activates the welcome bonus and plays through a portion of the wagering requirement, tests customer support with specific questions about bonus terms and withdrawals, and requests a withdrawal using the tested method. The April 2026 Joe Fortune test details are documented at How We Test.

3

Fact-Checking Primary Sources

After testing, every factual claim is verified against a primary source before publication. Licence status is checked at the licensing authority's public register — for Joe Fortune (Curaçao licence) this means the Curaçao eGaming registry. Bonus terms are checked in the casino's own Terms and Conditions page, not third-party bonus aggregators. Payment method details are checked in the casino's cashier after login, since these sometimes differ from their public marketing pages.

4

Scoring and Rating

The review is scored using our seven-criterion weighted formula, applied mechanically to the verified test data and facts. The formula is the same for every casino. Daniel does not adjust scores based on subjective preference after the calculation — the numbers from testing go into the formula, and the result is the result. The weighting and full formula are published at How We Rate.

5

Publication

The review is published with: (a) Daniel Hartley's name and a link to his author profile; (b) the date of original publication; (c) the date of most recent material update; (d) a test date separate from the publication date when testing was conducted significantly before publication. The affiliate disclosure appears at the top of the main review page, not hidden at the footer.

6

Scheduled Review and Update

Every review is placed on a rolling review schedule: quarterly for active recommendations, and within 48 hours of any significant change being reported (e.g. a major bonus restructure, a licence change, or a pattern of player complaints emerging on third-party forums). When a material change is made to a published review, the "Last updated" date is changed and the specific change is noted inline where relevant.

Conflict of Interest Management

The primary conflict of interest risk for an affiliate casino review site is that commercial relationships with operators might influence scores positively. We manage this risk through three mechanisms:

First, our rating formula is mechanically applied — the criteria and weights are fixed and identical for all casinos, so there is no subjective adjustment step at which a bias could operate. Second, Daniel's editorial decisions are documented through a record of test evidence — screenshots, timestamps, and support transcripts that substantiate every claim. This documentation is retained and available for review. Third, we publish our negatives prominently: the weaknesses section of our Joe Fortune review appears above the fold on the main page and is given equal visual weight to the strengths section.

If Daniel were to enter a personal relationship (family, friendship, financial) with an employee of Joe Fortune Casino or Betting Partners that might create a perception of conflict, this would be disclosed in the review. No such relationship currently exists.

Corrections Policy

We aim for accuracy but acknowledge that review content becomes outdated as casinos change their terms. If you identify a factual error — a bonus amount that no longer reflects current T&Cs, a payout method that has been added or removed, an RTP figure that has changed — please email [email protected] with the specific claim and the current correct information.

We will verify the reported correction within 48 hours. If the correction is confirmed, we update the relevant section of the review, update the "Last updated" date, and — for material corrections — add a brief inline note explaining what changed and when. We do not silently delete or alter past content to remove evidence of a previous error; we correct it and note the correction. Reviews are never altered to reflect operator preferences or complaints — only verified factual updates are accepted.

Relationship with Advertising and Sponsorship

JoeFortune VIP AU does not currently run display advertising, sponsored posts, or paid placements. All revenue comes from affiliate commissions as described in our Affiliate Disclosure. If we were to introduce any other revenue model — such as display ads, sponsored content, or paid product placements — each instance would be clearly and prominently labelled using standard advertising disclosure language ("Advertisement", "Sponsored", or equivalent). No sponsored content would be written to appear as independent editorial review. To date, no such content exists on this site.

For questions about this policy, contact [email protected]. Our full testing methodology and rating criteria are also published. If you have evidence that any content on this site violates these stated principles, we want to know — that kind of accountability is what makes editorial policies meaningful.
